Outspoken Democratic Union (DU) president Ackim Anthony Njobvu has vowed that his party is definitely taking over government in 2026.
And Njobvu has bemoaned current economic challenges that he says has contributed to high cost of living.
The opposition leader states that President Hakainde Hichilema’s UPND has lamentably failed Zambians despite promising to make things better when in opposition.
He says the cost of living is unbearable as youths remain jobless, and that citizens are losing hope.
Njobvu says Zambia needs a new direction, and that next year’s elections presents an opportunity for real change.
“HH has completely failed to deliver on the promises he made to the Zambian people.
The time for the Democratic Union is now. In 2026, Timukwenyula,” Njobvu said.
Njobvu further says the DU hasn’t come into politics to play.
“We are coming to restore dignity, create jobs, empower communities and putting the people first. Let the voice of the people be louder then before,” said.
“In these challenging times, our nation needs leaders who listen, walk with the people and put God at the center of service. As president of the DU, I reaffirm my commitment to servant leadership that lifts the poor, defends the truth, and uphold justice,” Njobvu added.
The opposition leader made the statement shorty after attending mass at St. Peter’s Catholic church Parish in Lusaka’s Garden compound on Sunday.
