UPND Media Director Mark Simuuwe says the party’s landslide victory in the Mfuwe parliamentary by-election is clear proof that Zambians are voting for tangible development and not political noise.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Simuuwe said the result was historic for the UPND as it marked the party’s first parliamentary seat in Muchinga Province, a region once considered an opposition stronghold.

He credited the win to President Hakainde Hichilema’s track record, highlighting free education, increased Constituency Development Fund, expanded social cash transfers, youth skills training, farmer input support and improved rural healthcare.

“In every village we visited, people spoke about the changes they can see. They are voting for what is real, not empty talk,” Simuuwe said.

He explained that the UPND’s campaign strategy is simple as it is to just deliver first, then explain to the people what has been done and where the country is headed.

Simuuwe added that the opposition is losing ground because it has no alternative policies, relying only on criticism while the ruling party continues to implement solutions.
