Kafue residents being issued “call-outs” at clinics
…as they endorse the Democratic Union as party of choice
By Francis Chipalo
Some residents in Kafue district have disclosed that they are being issued with “call-outs” whenever they go to seek medical services at government health institutions.
Meanwhile, the residents have endorsed Ackim Antony Njobvu’s Democratic Union as the preferred party ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The residents stated that they were fatigued with the ruling UPND and the opposition Patriotic Front, political parties that have been at loggerheads for years, stating that they needed a change of leadership in 2026.
Meanwhile, the residents bemoaned current economic hardships, coupled with endless hours of electricity blackouts that have hit the country.
Speaking on behalf of the residents on Sunday, Ruth Mubanga disclosed that people in Kafue are being issued with “call-outs” at health facilities.
“Whenever we go to clinics, they give us call-outs instead of medicines,” Mubanga said.
Mubanga also said residents have been forced to become vegetarians because of load shedding.
She said many small businesses have collapsed because of load shedding.
“We have stopped buying relish in our fridges because of lack of electricity and now we just survive on soya pieces and popa ubwali (bitter Kapenta). Please help us,” she appealed.
Meanwhile, Njobvu called on the residents to be the change they want to see.
“We want to work with women and the youth especially if we are to change things in this country, but we need to demonstrate that we ready and responsible for us to take charge,” Njobvu said.
The opposition leader also urged the youth to desist from being used as tools of political violence as the country approaches the election year.
