DESPITE its earlier announcement that it would wait for former president Edgar Lungu to be buried to hold the general conference, the PF has now come to terms with reality that it may take a whole year for the former head of State to be buried.

Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka yesterday, PF faction secretary general Raphael Nakacinda announced that the party will hold its general conference before 2026.
Nakacinda said the Lungu family will be informed of every stage of the preparation for the conference.
He said the party will not delay the conference any further as it had a lot of work to do ahead of the incoming 2026 general elections.
“We are not going to delay the holding of the conference because we have work to do after the conference as we focus on 2026. We are going to update the family of our former president Edgar Lungu on the stages of the preparation of the general conference,” he said.
The former ruling party also claimed to be the biggest opposition in the country that remained and is willing to collaborate with others to remove the UPND from power.
“There are people who have imaginary thoughts that PF is dead. PF is the biggest opposition party in the country and it will participate in the 2026 elections,” said Nakacinda.
