Below is what George N Mtonga posted…..
I have been observing alot that i have been in this country. And im encouraging our comrades in UPND who have always desired nothing from the party and the president to reestablish the same lines of defense that we had in 2021.
Remember, i launched what was called the SOUTHERN STRATEGY with the aim of getting more than 90% of the votes in the province and we managed to get what we wanted. WE FINANCED it ourselves and pushed.
Im asking that by December to re-establish the same channels of operations that we had. Eventually the opposition will organize and we must make sure we ready to match them everywhere and control the narrative our governments achievement. MISINFORMATION is what they will ride on.
I will be reaching out to many of you so that we can relaunch our structures!!
WE MUST DEPLOY at ward level. I will need access to the same machinery we built in last elections to handle the 2026 election.
AT THIS POINT NO ONE SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT ANYTHING IN OUR PARTY OTHER THAN WINNING THE ELECTION. THE FOCUS SHOULD JUST BE ON THAT!!!
Alright Mr Mtonga.
All the best with your strategy in Southern Province.
I will also start my Strategy in Northern, Muchinga and Luapula Provinces of Zambia. To get all who qualify to get NRCs, to Register as Voters, and to turn up on 13th August, 2026.
“Operation Northern Vote” will soon be launched. We want those numbers which come from Southern Province to be replicated all over Zambia, to advance our Democracy.
You should read the book by John Mwanakatwe ” The End of the Kaunda Era” about election turn-out in Southern Province under the one-state era which was 1973-91. Mwanakatwe was a minister in the Kaunda government and did not originate from Southern Province. It was always higher than everywhere else in percentage terms, Mwanakatwe writes. There’s something about the Tongas and the Christian missionary education that they benefitted from, perhaps more than any other part of Zambia.
This is being narrow minded Mr Mtonga. You think others cannot emulate your so called strategy in other provinces?
Mtonga is uttering nonsense here. Traditionally, the Southern part of the country has been voting UPND since the time of Mazoka. They have been voting 90 percent for UPND. How does he come in and take credit for that? If he had said he would do that in Lusaka., Copperbelt or anywhere else we would believe him.
