Choma’s youths rally behind Muchindu as next MP
The youth movement in Choma has commended Joe Muchindu for his effort and commitment in addressing issues affecting young people.
Meanwhile, Masopo school ground was on Friday the center of activities as locals trooped the venue to witness finals of the Muchindu – sponsored sport tournament.
Two teams representing two of the 16 wards in Choma battled it out in the finals at a fully packed school ground witnessed by Muchindu alongside the area’s traditional leaders as well as members of the Ward Development Committee (WDC) and UPND former District youth chairman Charles Shapenga.
The game ended nil – nil after 90 minutes of exciting football.
However, it was Mochipapa from Siamambo ward who carried the day via a penalty shoot-out, beating their opponents Sianyemu of Sikalongo ward 3 -2.
Surprisingly, and during the awards ceremony, Muchindu ensured that all the 10 participating teams walked away with a cash prize, with the lowest getting a K500, whilst champions grabbed a K1,500.
The gesture by Muchindu who said the tournament was not about winning or losing, but an effort to unite the people received backing.
In his speech to the players, Muchindu said the idea behind continued sponsoring of tournaments to expose talented young people to the outside.
“When some of you become professionals, you will be able to invest your money here, and this means development for Choma, ” he said.
Muchindu also urged eligible young people to obtain their NRCs and be able to vote for Hakainde Hichilema as President in the elections.
“The President has given you free education so we need to give him all the support he needs by voting for him so that he can continue developing this country,” said Muchindu.
Meanwhile, the youth have since vowed to rally behind Muchindu as their next member of parliament for Choma central constituency in the 2026 general elections under the ruling UPND ticket.
