MAKEBI ZULU: THE QUIET STRENGTH IN ZAMBIA’S POLITICAL CONVERSATION

By Brian Matambo – Lusaka, Zambia

Hon. Makebi Zulu, former Eastern Province Minister and Member of Parliament for Malambo Constituency, is steadily emerging as one of the most talked-about figures in Zambia’s evolving political space. His rise has not been through noise or confrontation, but through a steady, disciplined presence that has caught the attention of both his party and the nation.

At 44 years old, Makebi Zulu stands out as part of a younger yet more grounded generation of leaders within the Patriotic Front. He belongs to a cohort that includes Raphael Nakachinda and Greyford Monde, men who are mature in outlook, seasoned in debate, and committed to steering a rebranded PF into relevance. In this group, Makebi Zulu represents a blend of professional rigor and moral steadiness, qualities increasingly seen as essential for Zambia’s future.

The foundation of his reputation lies in law. A trained advocate, Makebi Zulu has for years been at the forefront of constitutional arguments that have shaped national debates. But beyond the courtroom battles, it is his loyalty to the late President Edgar Chagwa Lungu that has stood out. Each time the former head of state and his family faced legal hurdles, Makebi Zulu was there, not for the cameras but for the cause. His consistency in representing Lungu in some of the most high-pressure moments after State House has defined him as a man who does not waver when
Give us 12 reasons why you are endorsing him and we shall give you 12 reasons why we can’t vote for him.
These 2 know where the late hid the stolen loot. They want to chew together.
The PF political party is essentially a group of opportunists that flourished on false promises of more money in your pockets. During the time of the late President Michael Chilufya Sata, there was significant chaos and undemocratic behavior, which ultimately led to the succession and rise to power of the late former Sixth President Edgar Chagwa Lungu.
We witnessed individuals like Kelvin Bwalya Fube labeling himself as a political strategist, yet today he finds himself mired in political confusion, uncertain of which party he actually belongs to. Additionally, we have political opportunists such as Zumani Zimba and Makebi Zulu employing underhanded tactics, misleading the public by suggesting that the late former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu endorsed someone to take over his position.
It is regrettable that in Zambia, anyone can suddenly emerge from obscurity and claim they are fit to run for the presidency. Meanwhile, the PF is exploiting the delayed burial of former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to garner sympathy from the Zambian populace. From my perspective, both the PF political party and the Tonse Alliance represent complete failures, and by early next year, they will likely be engulfed in utter confusion, leading to their demise.
Regardless of how they attempt to rebrand or change leadership, the PF is a defunct political party with a tarnished reputation, and their past criminal activities continue to haunt them.
So this fake PhD holder and former Lungu advisor was lying when he vociferated that ECL opted for persons outside politics? The useless turncoat has now been promised vice presidency by Makebi and, typical to nature, he thinks they can sway the “gullible” Zambians to voting for them?? What a pity.
