The Lusaka High Court has sentenced a 65-year-old man from Chibombo District, Davies Chiyaba, and his two children to life imprisonment for murdering his daughter’s ex-husband.
The convicted children are his daughter, Modrine Chiyaba, and 24-year-old son, Frank Chiyaba.
The three were found guilty of killing Thomas Chisi.
The court heard that Chisi, who had divorced Modrine, kept visiting her at night without permission, demanding sex.
It was heard that on the night of the incident, he followed her to her father’s home, which angered the family.
The family beat him to death in an attempt to “teach him a lesson.”
In delivering judgment on Monday, May 5, 2025, Judge Siloka sentenced all three to life imprisonment, despite their pleas for leniency.
