Mining expert Engineer James Chirwa observes that Mufulira Central has lagged behind in terms of development due to lack of leadership.
And Engineer Chirwa says despite being a mining town, Mufulira has not seen the desired development despite increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
He says the lack of representation for the people of Mufulira is a source of concern, further calling for the need to change the status of district.
“Like we have stated before, our people in Mufulira Central have been denied the much needed development because of leadership vacuums, but I want to tell you that this can all change by ushering in a leadership that cares for the needs of our people, ” Eng. Chirwa said.
Eng. Chirwa further appealed to residents of Mufulira to unite and collaborate with his office in an effort to foster development.
“We need to join hands in fostering development in our constituency for us to get the development that we need. Our office remains open for ideas on how we can achieve this, so I am appealing to everyone in the district to come forward and see how best we can do this,” he said.
Meanwhile, the mining expert who is aspiring as member of parliament under the New Heritage Party stated that people in Mufulira have an opportunity in 2026 to change the face of the district by electing a visionary leadership.
“We need to have someone who has a vision for Mufulira and someone who can push and lobby for development and that is where I come in with president Chishala Kateka and the New Heritage Party”.
“Your vote for us in next year’s elections is a vote for development of our constituency and the nation at large because currently, there is nothing happening in Mufulira because of a leadership crisis,” he added.
