Traders at Mufumbwe market in North – Western province have received a cash of K100,000 from ex – Mufumbwe member of parliament Steven Masumba.
Masumba said the cash was given as part of his effort to boosting capital for various traders running different “small business” at the trading facility.
“We looked at people running the smallest businesses in the market and those who who fail to start up something such as purchasing a box of tomato or those who sell fritters but are unable to buy a bag of flour for their business.
These are people we are empowering with the the hope that they grow their business,” Masumba said.
Masumba disclosed that over a 100 traders benefitted from the capital injection.
“Our plan is to see to it that more such traders benefit from this initiative which basically aims at supporting the youth and women operating as SMEs,” he said.
Masumba (middle on the pic) stated that the intention is not to leave anyone behind, adding more traders will soon receive capital boost too.
Meanwhile, traders at the market expressed happiness the gesture by the former deputy minister of sport and youth.
