UPND Monze Central aspiring Member of Parliament Victor Cheelo has called on politicians and leaders to prioritise unity and national cohesion in the wake of heightened debate surrounding the repatriation of late former president Edgar Lungu’s body.

Cheelo urged leaders to exercise restraint and avoid making remarks that could deepen divisions or create unnecessary alarm.

“These are trying times. We must remember that Zambia’s strength lies in our ability to come together despite our differences,” he said.

“Politicians and leaders should issue statements that promote calmness, understanding and a sense of shared citizenship.”

He said the country’s diversity should be seen as a source of strength, not division, adding that every citizen should feel valued, respected, and included.

“As we navigate this situation, our common humanity and shared identity as Zambians should guide our actions and words. Let’s stand together as one people, one nation, and one Zambia,” Mwanamupale said.

The Monze based politician expressed optimism that with unity, the nation could overcome present challenges and build a brighter future for the present and future generations.
