THE Copperbelt Province has been graced by the Central Bank governor, Denny Kalyalya who officially unveiled the new K100 and K50 notes, part of the redesigned Zambian currency set to enter circulation on Monday.
The unveiling follows the initial launch of Zambia’s new currency in March 2025, when the Bank of Zambia introduced the K10, K20, K200, and K500 notes, along with new K5, K2, and K1 coins.
At that time, the K50 and K100 notes were not included in the rollout.
The central bank later announced that the new K50 and K100 denominations would officially begin circulating on September 1.
BoZ governor Dr. Kalyalya, paid a courtesy call on the Provincial Administration today as part of a wider engagement to promote economic growth and boost confidence in the Zambian Kwacha
Copperbelt Province Minister Elisha Matambo expressed hope that the Kwacha continues to gain strength as the country pursues its economic goals.
“We pray that our Kwacha continues to gain strength until we reach our desired goal as a country,” Matambo stated.
“We assured the Bank of Zambia entourage that, as the Copperbelt Provincial Administration, our doors remain open, and we will give them total support in all their activities in the province.”
