Over 300 village headmen have mobilized themselves and community members ahead of Chebechebe Muchindu sport tournament slated for the 25th of August, 2025.
The traditional leaders are from all the 16 wards of Choma central central constituency, who have continued rallying behind Joe Muchindu as their next Member of Parliament in next year’s general elections.
Event sponsor, Joe Muchindu has expressed happiness with the overwhelming support from traditional leaders in the area.
And Muchindu says this year’s tournament promises to be an exciting one as notable former national team players, local league coaches and renowned sports commentators are expected to be in attendance.
Among the commentators that have confirmed participation is the famous Patrick Nyangulu from national broadcaster ZNBC.
He says the list of invited Zambian football legends would be availed in due course.
Muchindu says the decision to invite high profile soccer names and coaches is aimed at presenting an opportunity to participants to be scouted by professionals.
“We have a lot of untapped talents in the rural communities of Choma and that is why we have this year decided to invite former national team players and coaches so that they can come and identify talented boys and girls from Choma during the tournament, Muchindu disclosed, in an interview.
Muchindu explained that the Chebechebe sport tournament is celebrated in honor of his late father.
He added that this year’s tournament will be held in his home village of Siamaluba in Siaskabole ward, with over 30 teams expecting to take part.
“We are overwhelmed with calls from our village headmen ahead of this tournament which isn’t just a sporting event, but a platform which brings people together for a common cause as we will also use the event to exchange ideas on how we can improve people’s livelihoods as well sharing ideas on community development for Choma as a whole,” he added.
